Why he might be annoying:

    He was a child actor, appearing in several TV commercials.
    As Immigration Minister, he was criticized for refusing to answer questions from the press and Members of Parliament about conditions in offshore detention centers for illegal immigrants.
    He opposed legalizing same-sex marriage.
    He urged the Liberal Party to exploit voter concerns about Muslim immigrants.
    His response to Greta Thunberg excoriating world leaders was to complain that the climate change debate was subjecting Australian children to 'needless anxiety.'
    He was criticized for taking a family vacation in Hawaii while brushfires were ravaging New South Wales (December, 2019).
    His office initially denied he was in Hawaii (while claiming that for security reasons they could not reveal where he was).

Why he might not be annoying:

    After several unsuccessful attempts at in vitro fertiliization over an 18-year period, he and his wife conceived two daughters naturally.
    In his maiden speech in Parilament, he quoted Bono while appealing for increased aid to Africa.
    Although religious, he said, 'The Bible is not a policy handbook, and I get very worried when people try to treat it like one.'
    After the Liberal-National coalition scored an upset victory in the Federal election (May 18, 2019), he said, 'I have always believed in miracles.'
    He said about criticism, 'People are angry, and if people want to direct that at me, that is up to them.'
