Biblical Characters
Ancient people who lived in the southwest of modern Israel including the Gaza strip
Probable descendants of the 'Sea People' who invaded the Mideast by sea in the second millennium BC
    Probably from Crete
Most well known for their clashes with the ancient Israelites
They gave the ancient Israelites a hard time.
    Goliath was one.
When they invaded Egypt, Ramses III kicked their butts and settled them in southwest Israel.
They wouldn't share their superb iron working technology.
They left very little in the way of writings, artifacts, ruins, etc., to learn more about them.
Their name has come to mean uncultured, but according to the History Channel's Simcha Jacobovici, they had a very advanced culture combining their Mycenaean roots with the Canaanite culture of the Mideast.
They disappeared from history after the Assyrian and Babylonian invasions.
The Bible gives them really bad press when they probably weren't any better or worse than any other people of their time and place.
