    Birth name was Lewis Burwell Puller
    Lieutenant General in the United States Marine Corps
    Most decorated Marine in history
    Served in the occupation of Haiti (1915), WWI, WWII and the Korean War
    He went by the nickname 'Chesty' which was given to him because of his large barrel chest.
    He attempted to return to active duty in Vietnam at the age of 67, but was not allowed.
    His outspokenness often caused Marine brass to look at him unfavorably.
    He was extremely popular among enlisted men, and is still revered even to this day.
    He dedicated his entire life to the US Marine Corps.
    The most decorated Marine in history, he was awarded 52 different medals by the US and other nations and was the recipient of five Navy Crosses.
    He commanded Marine regiments in battles against the Japanese in some of the bloodiest fighting of WWII, and later against the Chinese in the Korean War.
