York' (1941), 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' (1942), 'The Male Animal' (1942), 'This Is The Army' (1943), 'Thank Your Lucky Stars' (1943), 'Where Do We Go From Here?' (1945), 'Rhapsody in Blue' (1945), 'Born To Be Bad' (1950) and 'The Revolt of Mamie Stover' (1956)
    She began acting in vaudeville at age three.
    The studio changed her last name to avoid confusion with Joan Blondell.
    She got typecast in 'girl next door' roles at Warner Brothers.
    She gave her breakthrough performance, as the embittered cripple Velma in 'High Sierra,' when she was only 16.
    She was married to Dr. William Caldwell for 50 years until his death.
    During World War II, she was a regular entertainer at the Hollywood Canteen.
