It tried to combine the grittiest and real TV genre with the most unrealistic genre.
It expected viewers to buy that police would break into song and dance after they arrest a criminal.
In one scene, a jury went into a gospel number just to announce the verdict.
Of course, when the show focused on black criminals, they usually rapped.
It was yet another musical endeavor that involved Randy Newman.
It was the most expensive television show at the time.
It featured crossovers from other Bochco shows ('Hill Street Blues,' 'L.A. Law').
Bochco refused ABC's pleads to drop the musical numbers from the show.
TV Guide named it the eighth worst show of all-time.
Like it or not, it was ambitious.
It remained a punch line and cult fave years after its cancellation.
Some critics think the show is not as bad as it's perceived and was ahead of its time.
Bochco claimed it was the most fun he had making a television series.
    It won two Emmys.
In its last episode, the cast sung a song 'It Ain't Over Til the Fat Lady Sings' that appropriately ends with a fat lady singing.
