Commentator
    (1975- )
    Born in Chicago, Illinois
    Of Filipino descent
Anchor for CBSN and CBS Weekend News (Sunday)
Former White House Correspondent for CNN (2006-09)
Moderated the Vice-Presidential Debate between Gov. Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Kaine (Oct. 4, 2016)
One of her first assignments as a reporter was covering a 'a cat stuck in a tree.'
She decided on her career choice after witnessing a staged 'mock crime' in her college journalism class.
She has had difficulty making her own way as a news anchor (relegated to the digital medium).
She's susceptible to 'activist journalism' (usually centered on immigration policy).
She was criticized for her performance as a Vice-Presidential moderator, coming off as 'too meek' to control the two bickering nominees.
Predictably, Republican viewers accused her of favoring Kaine during the debate proceedings (and, in all fairness, she did allow him to interject and ramble on considerably more than she did Pence).
    She's an experienced scuba diver.
Her favorite book is 'Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.'
She received her Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana (1995).
A 2011 report she released concerning the White House's exclusion of Veteran suicides from the 'condolence letter' sent to military families reportedly played a major role in reversing the administration's policy.
She took a month-long hiatus from social media prior to moderating the debate.
Her objectivity as a moderator was questioned, but her most high-profile story was done concerning Hispanic-American supporters of Donald Trump.
She did score one buzz-worthy line when interjecting between Kaine and Pence's overlapping arguments ('The people at home can't hear you when you talk over each other!')
She was a cornucopia of 'firsts' as a Presidential Debate moderator (the first Asian-American of either gender, the youngest, and the first from a digital network).
