Why he might be annoying:

Some trivia books claim that he, not George Washington, is the real first president of the US.
However, the office of President of the Continental Congress resembled the Speaker of the House rather than the modern Presidency.
Furthermore, Hanson was the third President of the Continental Congress under the Articles of Confederation, which would make the 'real' first president Samuel Huntington (1781).
He had a grandfather, an uncle, a nephew and two sons also named John Hanson, creating confusion among genealogists and historians.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first presiding officer of the Continental Congress to serve a full year and to use the title President of the United States.
While he was President, the Congress negotiated a peace treaty with Britain, established the first mint and first central bank, and proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving.
Four of his children died in infancy or childhood.
He can still be used for a 'Who was the first president' sucker bet.
