    (February 1, 1904-October 17, 1979)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Birth name was Sidney Joseph Perelman
    Jewish humorist

He never graduated Brown University because he failed trigonometry four times.
A biographer wrote, 'He is vain (with little to be vain about), lecherous (although usually unsuccessful in his pursuit of the ladies), greedy, slothful, and a braggart.'
He resented being better remembered for his contributions to Marx Brothers films than his more 'serious' writing.
He was an Anglophile until he moved to Britain and had to actually socialize with English people.
He was banned from joining fraternities at Brown because of anti-semitism.
He won an Oscar for the screenplay of 'Around the World in 80 Days.'
'The Oxford Book of Humorous Prose' declared him the best American comedic author of all time.
Fans of his writing include comedian Woody Allen, poet T.S. Eliot and novelist Somerset Maugham.
His praise for Joseph Heller's 'Catch-22' caused sales of the novel to take off.
