The Resume

    (June 12, 1941- )
Provided vocals on Pink Floyd's 'Have a Cigar'
Inspiration for Led Zeppelin's 'Hats off to Harper'
Recorded the albums 'Sophisticated Beggar,' Folkjokeopus,' 'Stormcock,' 'Lifemask,' 'Valentine,' 'Flashes From the Archive Of...,' 'Bullinamingvase,' 'Once,' 'Unhinged,' 'Death or Glory,' 'An Intro to Roy Harper,' 'Flat & Baroque & Berserk,' 'The Dream Society,' 'HQ,' 'Commercial Breaks,' 'Born in Captivity,' 'Come Out Fighting Ghengis Smith' and 'Burn the World'

Why he might be annoying:

He was once pictured wearing a speedo alongside Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin), who was dressed in drag.
He 'successfully avoided being entangled by the Christian religion.'
He lead himself to suffering from a self-induced nervous breakdown.
After impregnating his girlfriend and making plans to elope and get married, she dumped him and ran away to London.
He was arrested for 'various acts of youthful rebellion.'
His albums are hard to find.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mother died a month after he was born.
He said the following of Miles Davis' music: 'Remember, this was a world that was still ethnically separated. I was thirteen and ignorant of the social situation in America, but I felt these records were better than anything my own culture was turning out.'
He formed his first band when he was 14.
He served in England's Royal Air Force.
Jimmy Page wrote the song 'Hats off to Harper,' which appeared on the album 'Led Zeppelin III,' in honor of him.
He sang on Pink Floyd's 'Have a Cigar,' a song Roger Waters wrote and dedicated to Syd Barrett.
His vocals on 'Have a Cigar' are significant, considering he is the only person to sing on a Pink Floyd song and not be an official member of the band (not counting Claire Torry's vocals on 'The Great Gig in the Sky,' which are just screams).
He performed at a sold out show on his 60th birthday (2001).
