The Resume

    (August 16, 1985- )
    Born in Springfield, Vermont
First baseman for the Oakland Athletics
Drafted 28th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2003 Major League Draft

Why he might be annoying:

He has an unusual spelling of his first name.
He struggled with consistency issues during his first few major league seasons.
He is considered a hot dog hitter by baseball pundits.
He wound up on the disabled list after he hit his head diving into a shallow pool, which required him to receive six staples in the crown of his head.
He was originally drafted as a catcher, but was converted to a first baseman after the team became concerned about his defensive abilities.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of the prospects the A's acquired in the Mark Mulder trade.
He was considered a highly ranked prospect in the Cardinals system, which made him a key piece in the Mulder trade.
Despite being designated for assignment, he was able to return to the A's and be a contributing member of the lineup upon his return.
He recorded two hits in his debut major league game (2007).
He admitted his decision to jump in a shallow pool was stupid and was thankful he only received minor injuries.
