Why he might be annoying:

    He posted an unspectacular 25–38–1 record at the University of Montana, with only one winning season in his six years at the helm.
    He blamed his lack of success at Montana on the facility, claiming it hampered his ability to recruit top ranked athletes to the school.
    He was fired by the Lions after an 0-4 start (1989).
    He never played a game at the professional level.
    He harbored a grudge towards the University of Montana's board of directors over his dismissal years after the fact.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was instrumental in the resurgence of the University of Montana football program.
    He, along with Dennis Washington, are credited with creating the plan to build Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
    He went 4-0 as the Lions interim head coach, which earned him the position on a permanent basis the following season.
    He served as a coach for a team that taught American Football to kids in Japan following his CFL career.
    He spoke fondly of his time in Montana, and takes pride in how he helped renew interest in the school's football program.
