Why he might be annoying:

    In his early baseball years, he called himself Joey, which makes his rookie trading cards look quite dated.
    He was passed over in drafts by many teams, solely because of his temper.
    He attacked an obnoxious racist fan at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Starkville, Miss.
    He was suspended from the College World Series for not running out ground balls and the attack on the fan (1987).
    He was suspended for two weeks and reassigned in Class A-Kinston (NC) for lack of hustle (1988).
    He was suspended for one week when he threw a baseball at the chest of a fan who taunted him in Cleveland (1990).
    He is an alcoholic and spent ten weeks in alcohol rehab in his rookie year (1989).
    While drunk, he tore up a bathroom.
    He was suspended for using a corked bat. The suspect bat was stolen from the umpires office at Jacobs Field (July 1994).
    He charged Kansas City pitcher Neal Heaton for throwing behind him (1992).
