    First baseman and outfielder for the San Francisco Giants (1958-66), St. Louis Cardinals (1966-68), Atlanta Braves (1969-72), Oakland A's (1972), Boston Red Sox (1973) and Kansas City Royals (1974)
    Seven-time All Star (1959-64,1967)
    National League Rookie of the Year (1958) and MVP (1967)
    #30 retired by the Giants
    Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1999)
    He has been divorced twice.
    He fathered a son out of wedlock.
    He served ten months in prison for trying to smuggle 160 pounds of marijuana from Colombia (1978).
    After he was stopped for speeding, police found marijuana, cocaine and hypodermic needles in his car (2007).
    He was the first player to win both Rookie of the Year and MVP by unanimous votes.
    He served as a spokesman for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and participated in Athletes Against AIDS.
    He followed Roberto Clemente as the second Puerto Rican in the Hall of Fame.
