Why he might be annoying:

His confusing theories on learning behavior can be a nightmare for college students.
He left the seminary after reading the work of Charles Darwin to become a physiologist.
He often had research assistants do his studies instead of conducting his own experiments.
He was ill-tempered and often yelled at research assistants.
He placed lab dogs in odd machinery to conduct digestive system experiments.
Subject of the over used joke 'Does the name Pavlov, ring a bell?'
His last words were reportedly 'Help me, I must dress.'

He helped lay the foundation for the psychological study of learning behavior.
He lived in poverty so he could dedicate his life to research.
He suffered head injuries as a child which prevented him from attending school for several years.
He was one of the few Russian scientists to allow women and Jews in his research facilities.
He wrote protest letters to Josef Stalin criticizing Soviet political and economic policies.
He won the Nobel Prize for Medicine (1904).
