Murderer

The Resume

    (February 8, 1948-May 10, 2002)
    Born in Orlando, Florida
With her common-law husband, George Sibley Jr., shot and killed police officer Roger Motley Jr. during a confrontation in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Opelika, Alabama (October 4, 1993)
Became the last person executed in the Alabama electric chair

Why she might be annoying:

She married Karl Block, a man four decades older than her.
After they separated she and Block disputed ownership of their house.
When she and Sibley confronted Block, she told Block 'I mean business' and stabbed him.
The prosecution agreed to recommend probation in return for a plea of 'no contest' to aggravated battery, but she and Sibley fled the state instead.
They claimed they had shot Motley in self defense, but witnesses testified Sibley fired first.
During a standoff with police, they demanded a color TV and an audience with the Pope before surrendering. (They did not get either.)
Their defense in court was that lawyers (including the prosecutors and judges) are not citizens because of a constitutional amendment denying citizenship to people with 'titles of nobility.'
The argument ignores the minor technicalities that: (a) the proposed amendment was never ratified; (b) even if it had been, slapping 'esquire' after your name is hardly the same as holding a title.
They also tried arguing that Alabama had not been properly re-admitted to the Union after the Civil War and therefore had no jurisdiction.

Why she might not be annoying:

She volunteered for the Humane Society.
Her electrocution was originally scheduled for April 19, but officials moved the date back to avoid executing her on the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing by Timothy McVeigh.
After her death, Sibley tried to hide behind her, claiming she had fired the fatal shots and therefore his death sentence should be overturned.
His efforts did not work, and Sibley was executed by lethal injection (August 4, 2005).
