Why he might be annoying:

He is famous for saying: 'Man is the measure of all things.'
This is taken to be a form of relativism, which means that truth, is dependent on the person who holds it (i.e. what is true for you may not be true to me).
He bragged that he could make an inferior argument seem better than the superior wrong.
He thought that he could prove anything.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an agnostic.
He thought that punishment should be carried out only to prevent a crime from reoccurring, and not for revenge.
He was charged with impiety for being an agnostic and fled to Sicily.
He drowned on the trip to Sicily.
