The Resume

    (June 21, 1942- )
    Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
    Represented Pennsylvania's 13th district in the U.S. House of Representatives (January 3, 1993–January 3, 1995)
Formerly married to Edward Mezvinsky (1975-2007)
Author of 'A Woman's Place: The Freshman Women Who Changed the Face of Congress' (1994) and And How Are the Children' (2021)
    Democrat

Why she might be annoying:

She cast the deciding vote in favor of President Clinton’s 1993 budget proposal, which ultimately cost her House seat.
She had opposed the bill, until President Clinton called her and convinced her to change her vote (the House chamber erupted into chaos when she announced her vote).
Her husband was indicted in March 2001 with 66 charges of bank fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud, and pled guilty to 31 of the charges (she divorced him while he was serving time in federal prison).
She waged a bid to oust Rick Santorum from his Florida Senate seat in 2000, but disappointing fundraising results and her husband's legal troubles sank her campaign.
She filed for bankruptcy after her campaign's end, but failed to receive a discharge from her debts.
Her name has since become political shorthand for one-term members of Congress who get ousted from office over a controversial vote (particularly during the 2010 and 2022 midterm election cycles).
She ran for her old House seat in the 2014 midterm elections and lost in the primary.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was also a correspondent for the Today Show.
She had to be escorted by the police to town-hall meetings due to outrage over her vote.
She has said in hindsight she wouldn’t have changed her vote and urged Democrats in vulnerable districts to vote for health care reform in 2010, despite the political risks.
She is a fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Fels Institute of Government.
She became the first unmarried American woman to adopt a foreign child when she adopted a Korean baby in 1970.
Her son, Marc Mezvinsky, married Chelsea Clinton in 2010.
As a broadcast journalist of over twenty years, she won five Emmy Awards for her work.
Her husband not only drained her bank account as a part of his shady dealings, but her mother's (his own mother-in-law's) as well.
