Why he might be annoying:

He uses a red handkerchief that he has had his entire career as a good luck charm.
He has the world record for most times dismissed in the 90's (ie: 90-99 runs).
He suffered from countless back and groin injuries which hindered his bowling and probably contributed to him not qualifying as an all-rounder.
He developed many rivalries with opponents such as Sachin Tendulkar and Curtly Ambrose.

Why he might not be annoying:

His rivalries with opponents were on-field affairs only. At the end of the day it was always forgotten.
He is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time and certainly the greatest of his generation.
He is the most capped player in test history.
He is the second highest run scorer in test history (10927 runs at an average of 51.06, with a highest score of 200, 32 Centuries and 50 half-centuries).
He is the most successful Australian captain of all time with 40 test victories from 53 matches, including a world record 16 straight wins.
In an interview, he said: 'I'm a simple person and lead a simple life. Money does not motivate me as long as I can provide for my children. I'd like to make a difference, working with the children in India or something. With my profile I can help. And being as good a father as I can is a big challenge.'
He has since set up his own charity in New Delhi, providing a home for children suffering with leprosy.
He also uses his profile to raise money for other various charities, by means of guest appearances or charity cricket matches.
He is Australian Prime Minister John Howard's favorite player and personal friend.
He has a twin brother Mark, also an international cricketer.
