    (July 8, 1933-May 30, 2010)
Born in New York City, New York
    Beat Generation figure
    Life partner of Allen Ginsberg
Poetry collections include 'Dear Allen, Ship will land Jan 23, 58' (1971), 'Lepers City' (1972), 'Clean Asshole Poems and Smiling Vegetable Songs' (1978) and 'Straight Heart's Delight: Love Poems and Selected Letters' (with Ginsberg, 1980)
Appeared in the films 'Couch' (1965) and 'Me and My Brother' (1969)
He was far better known for his relationship with Ginsberg than his writing.
After he was drafted by the army, he was sent from the front to a stateside hospital because of his 'erratic behavior and anti-military attitude.'
He was hired as a teacher by the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics -- which just happened to have been co-founded by Ginsberg.
He received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.
He had to drop out of high school to help support his family.
He was working as a painter's model when he met Ginsberg.
He called the course he taught 'Poetry for Dumb Students.'
Ginsberg listed Orlovsky as his spouse in 'Who's Who' decades before same-sex marriage became a widely-discussed topic.
