Why they might be annoying
The band has always been Iva Davies' vehicle and remains its only constant.
While growing up, Davies was offered several music scholarships and joined the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at age 15, but quit after just 9 months to become an unsuccessful salesman.
Davies record company misspelled his name as 'Iva.' His legal name is still 'Ivor' but 'Iva' stuck in recording circles.
Since it was renamed 'Icehouse' in 1981 the band has had 19 different members.
The band was renamed 'Icehouse' (from an album of the same name) because they wanted to tour the U.S. and there was already an American band named 'Flowers.'
Why they might not be annoying
They went from a $50 a night pub band to international super stardom.
They have toured with David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Simple Minds and The Cars.
Brian Eno, who was a major influence and whose songs they covered as a pub band, played keyboards and sang backing vocals with them on their 1986 'Measure For Measure' album.
'Electric Blue' reached #7 and 'Crazy' reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard singles charts.
The album containing the songs, 'Man of Colours,' sold more than 600,000 units, was named the 1988 Australian Album of the Year and remains the largest selling album by an Australian band released in Australia.
