Despite their name, they are not a death metal band.
Jesse Hughes' nickname is 'The Devil.'
Their music has appeared in commercials for Comcast, Payless, Shoesource and Nissan.
They originally had no drummer or bass player. They did have a CD player with prerecorded drum beats.
They have a revolving door of musicians.

Why they might not be annoying:

Their name originated when a drunken man argued with Hughes that Poison were The Eagles of death metal.
Hughes tries to mix the sound of The Eagles with the sound of death metal.
They have worked with Dave Grohl, Jack Black and several members of Queens of the Stone Age.
They have toured with The Strokes.
Over 80 people were killed during one of their concerts in Paris as terrorist gunmen opened fire (November 13, 2015).
