The Resume

Why Survivor 21: Nicaragua might be annoying:

Former NFL head coach Jimmy Johnson was selected to participate. (Didn’t they already try something similar with Gary Hogeboom?)
All of the players were either 40 or older, or 30 or younger, with no one in between; and the tribes were divided accordingly as well.
They had two Jimmys and two Kellys in the same game.
They had to put up with NaOnka’s bad-ass attitude.
Even though ‘Survivor’ had been winning the battle for Thursday night ratings, it got moved back to Wednesdays starting this cycle.
When two of the players decided to drop out of the game at the same time, Jeff called a special Tribal Council, without a preceding Immunity Challenge, to talk about this.
At this meeting, NaOnka and Purple Kelly ended up quitting, despite the others’ attempts to convince them otherwise.
The castaways tried to shield the campfire from rain, by putting wooden crates over the pit; they caught on fire and burned the whole camp down.
Reward and immunity were not awarded separately until the fifth episode, following the reshuffling of tribes.

Why Survivor 21: Nicaragua might not be annoying:

Finally, a true celebrity has participated in a U.S. version of the show.
Fans didn’t have to worry about Russell Hantz showing up anymore.
Starting this cycle, Jeff was named an executive producer of ‘Survivor’, and not just as a figurehead, and not because of the arrest of another ‘Survivor’ producer on murder charges, either.
Football fans finally got to see Jimmy Johnson with his hair messed up.
Unlike Gary Hogeboom, Coach Johnson made no secret about his true identity.
For the first time in quite a while, the age range of all the players was rather wide; the oldest player was 47 years older than the youngest.
Prior to the start of this cycle, the producers kept most of the players’ dates of birth a secret, to prevent fans from figuring out how the tribes would end up being divided.
A new element, the Medallion of Power, was introduced in this cycle.
Because NaOnka and Purple Kelly quit so unceremoniously, a new rule was created, stating that future quitters would not be guaranteed jury spots no matter how far they had made it in the game.
Beginning this cycle, they made the Hidden Immunity Idol harder to find.
