    He left Italy for the U.S. at 17 (1914).
    His first job in the U.S. was as a chef at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
    As a chef in Cleveland, many of the patrons so enjoyed his pastas they would buy extra for home use.
    He bottled his pasta sauces and sold them at the restaurant (1929).
    His sauces grew in such popularity that orders quickly came in from neighboring stores until it became nationwide.
    He advised the company until he died.
