    43% of his crew (aboard the Endeavour) died during his first Pacific expedition (1768-71).
    His second exhibition failed when he searched for Antarctica, but turned back due to ice (1772).
    Due to the high fatality rate of his 1768-71 expedition, he instituted compulsory diet reforms to upgrade the health of his crew.
    During his second Pacific Expedition about Resolution, only 1 man died due to poor health.
    His third and final expedition was aboard the Resolution and the Discovery.
    When his boat was stolen in Hawaii, he demanded it back and got murdered (1779).
