Why he might be annoying:

    He and CeCe got their start as singers on Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's PTL Club.
    He noted about his and CeCe's crossover success, 'Our music was played on secular radio, and so we were looked upon as two individuals who sold out to be successful.'
    He was arrested on domestic violence charges after an argument in which he pushed his ex-wife to the ground in front of their children (March 11, 2009); the charges were dropped when he agreed to counseling.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He recorded three singles with Eternal, including the British #1 hit 'I Wanna Be the Only One.' (1997)
    He sang 'God Bless America' for a 'Saluting Those Who Serve' tribute at the White House (2003).
    He sang at Whitney Houston's funeral.
    As of 2024, he has won six Grammys and ten Dove Awards.
