Why he might be annoying
He met a woman at a party in Los Angeles, fell in love immediately and drove with her to Las Vegas the same night for a quickie wedding (1964).
He had children out of wedlock with musician Elda Gentile and actress Jane Forth.
During a tour by Warhol's 'Exploding Plastic Inevitable' extravaganza, he swiped a painting from the Chrysler Art Museum 'just to see if I could get away with it.' (1966)
He would walk around the Warhol Factory with his genitals exposed and spray-painted gold.
He was rumored to have actually died of a heroin overdose at his girlfriend's apartment, after which his body and bike were dumped along the West Side Highway to make it look like a road accident.
Why he might not be annoying
He trained as a classic ballet dancer and first caught Warhol's eye when he 'made a ballet leap that practically spanned the dance floor.'
The Magic Tramps were the first rock band to play at New York's legendary club CBGB.
He inspired the songs 'Tattoo Vampire' by Blue Oyster Cult and 'Eric's Trip' by Sonic Youth.
Debbie Harry said, ' Eric's death definitely marked an end to the glitter period. We still miss him.'
