Why he might be annoying
He was known to be a penny pincher during his tenure as GM.
He became the first GM to refuse a contract awarded by an arbitrator.

He appears to be very stoic during interviews.
He missed the playoffs in his first season as Bruins head coach.
He traded Ray Bourque and Dave Andreychuk to the Colorado Avalanche for Brian Rolston, Martin Grenier and Sami Pahlsson.

He head coached Team Canada at the Summit Series (1972).
He coached the Bruins to two Stanley Cups with Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito on the roster.
He drafted franchise players Terry O'Reilly, Raymond Bourque and Joe Thornton during his tenure as general manager.
He traded Barry Pederson for future Hall-of-Fame forward Cam Neely and Glen Wesley.
He guided the Bruins to seven Stanley Cup Finals appearances during his tenure as GM and coach.
