Why she might be annoying
She has never won an individual gold medal, as all of her gold medals have come from relays.
She has the tendency to laugh constantly during interviews.
She does not own a television, yet she was on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire.'
She was criticized for a picture she did in Sports Illustrated (above) in August, 2000, for being exploitative towards women.
Why she might not be annoying
She stated that the Sports Illustrated picture was taken so that she could be a positive role model for girls by showing that it is okay to have a muscular, but feminine body.
She thought people should 'lighten up' about that picture.
She won more gold medals (8) and more overall medals (10) than any other woman in U.S. Olympic History.
In 1999, at the age of 26, she broke Mary T. Meagher's 18-year-old world record in the 100-meter butterfly at the Pan Pacific Championships.
She is a graduate of Stanford University, and currently attends medical school at Columbia University.
