Why they might be annoying:

They broke up because of a legal dispute (1970).
They were together less than ten years.
They were accused of floating the rumor that Paul was dead.
One of their album covers was banned when they appeared as butchers with lots of blood all over.
Helter Skelter inspired serial killer Charles Manson.
They experimented with all types of drugs, including LSD.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are considered the most creative musical group ever.
    Their musical styles evolved tremendously.
Their US debut on The Ed Sullivan Show is still one of the highest rated shows of all time (February 1964).
Thirty years after their break up, groups are still claiming to be the next Beatles, yet no one has come close to the hype.
When they first started out, most record albums only had 12 songs on them and only a few were hits, the Beatles put 14 songs on an album and just about all of them were hits.
At one point they had the top 5 songs on the US billboard chart.
'Hey Jude' was the first long length (6 minutes) song to be played on top 40 stations.
They released 'Free as a Bird' 25 years after their break up and it shot to #1.
30 years after their break up they released a greatest hits compilation that again hit #1 (2000).
They started the trend of long hair among males.
They were the voice of the '60s.
After seven years of holding out, thirteen of their albums finally became available for purchase on ITunes (November 16, 2010).
