    Had 4,191 hits lifetime (second only to Pete Rose)
    Stole season record 96 bases (record held 45 years - 1915)
    Nicknamed the 'Georgia Peach'
    1st player to be elected to baseball's Hall of Fame (1935)
    AL batting champ 12 times
    A movie about his life, 'Cobb' starred Tommy Lee Jones
    He would sharpen his spikes and slide with his feet high to injure opposing players.
    He was one of the most feared and hated ball players of all time.
    At his death, only 3 baseball players attended his funeral.
    There was a warrant in Ohio for Cobb's arrest in the brutal beating of a hotel watchman (1909).
    During that year's World Series (1909), he had to travel through Canada to get to Pittsburgh, avoiding Ohio. He later plead guilty and paid a fine.
    He was an alcoholic.
    He gambled on baseball.
    He suffered from depression.
    He smoked.
    He is one of the most talented baseball players of all time.
    He was so disliked even by his teammates, that they would sabotage his efforts by knocking him down when he was fielding a ball or slow down so he could not go for an extra base, yet he still became one of the greatest.
    In his second year in the big leagues, the negativity got so bad for him, he suffered a nervous breakdown.
    He told the Tigers to spend any amount of money to sign pitching great Walter Johnson, but they didn't listen and lost out on one of the greatest pitchers of all time.
    He is arguably the greatest baseball player of all time.
    When he retired, he held more records than any other player.
    He was left handed.
    Ty Cobb got the most Hall of Fame points (222 out of 226), followed by Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner who got 215 each.
