Why they might be annoying:

Much like Lifehouse and The Calling, the entire group is based around the lead singer.
Even fans of the band do not know that Robbie also sings lead on songs and Johnny just plays guitars in the background.
Johnny has been known to be a jerk to autograph seeking fans.
The band changed sounds after 'Name' became a hit.
'Name' was the only slow song on 'A Boy Named Goo.'
The success of 'Name' was by accident. It wasn't until a disc jockey decided to give 'Name' a few spins on his show that it became a hit.
Johnny is divorced.
Johnny has several tattoos including question marks on his shoulders.

Why they might not be annoying:

'Name' was the most played song on the radio in 1996.
The band takes time at making their album and puts work into each album.
Johnny was raised by his sisters after both of his parents died.
Johnny's dad was an alcoholic.
Johnny saw his mother die right in front of his eyes.
'Iris' was one of the most played songs of 1998-1999.
