    Originally named Cadyville until 1871
    Located in Snohomish County, Washington
    Population: 9,098 (2010 census)
    Named after the Snohomish Native American tribe
    It is dwarfed in size by its neighboring city of Everett, Washington in Snohomish County.
    It had a fire disaster on Memorial Day starting from the Palace Cafe leaving over 30 buildings destroyed (1911).
    Despite the Snohomish High School having a role in the 1983 film 'WarGames,' the scenes of the school are not actually filmed in the real school.
    The city's economy went into decline in the 1960s as a lot people were laid off.
    It tried to get rid of most of the historic buildings in the downtown area by planning to put a covered mall in its places (1965).
    A flood damaged over 300 buildings and killed 3,500 head of livestock here (1975).
    The first Hall of Fame Major League Baseball player from Washington state, Earl Averill was born here.
    The Harvey Airfield is only less than a mile away from the downtown area.
    The Snohomish Historic District is part of the National Register of Historic Places as its buildings are preserved and protected from demolition.
    It gives tours of its historic houses and buildings to tourists year-round.
    It has been called 'Antique Capital of the Northwest' as the town has many antique shops.
