Why he might be annoying
He and Sam Huff tried to leave the Giants at training camp as rookies until the team's offensive coordinator Vince Lombardi got them to stop.
He did national commercials for the Phillip Morris tobacco company as a Marlboro Man.
He kicked one of the most controversial field goals in NFL history in the 4th quarter of the Western Conference playoff game against the Baltimore Colts as many observers, including himself, thought he missed (December 26, 1965).
He was a member of five Giants teams that lost the NFL Championship (1958-1959, 1961-1963).

He kicked one of the University of Florida's longest yard punts at 44.3 (1955).
He took over as the Giants' placekicker after Pat Summerall retired from playing.

He made one of the NFL's longest punts at 90 yards (1965).
He had the Super Bowl most field goals scored record with 4 (1968) until Ray Wersching tied it (1982).
