The Resume

    (February 25, 1950-July 19, 2020)
    Born in Decatur, Illinois
    Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist
Member of the bands Palace Guard and the Merry-Go-Round

Why he might be annoying:

He rather foolishly signed a contract calling for him to deliver six albums in three years, an impossible to meet schedule given his practice of doing everything himself.
He went 43 years between releasing his third and fourth album.
He said about his long withdrawal from recording, ‘I just burned out. I just quivered and lay on the ground in the fetal position.’
Although he was often compared to Paul McCartney because of their similar vocal styles, he actually idolized John Lennon.

Why he might not be annoying:

He taught himself to play guitar, piano, violin, sax, flute….
On his first three albums, he wrote all the songs and played all the instruments.
Dunhill Records used his failure to deliver six albums in three years as an excuse to stop paying him royalties.
Perfect Sound Forever described him as ‘the Macca we all wish Macca would be: an incredible pop tunesmith without all the gooey sentimentality and overflowing cuteness.’
