Voice Actress

The Resume

    (May 10, 1956- )
Born in Ft. Lauderdale , Florida
Birth Name is Donna Paige Helmintoller
Best known as the voice of Belle in 'Beauty & the Beast,' 'Beauty & the Beast: Enchanted Christmas' and 'Belle's Magical World'

Why he might be annoying:

Howard Ashman encouraged her to imitate Barbara Streisand when singing parts of 'Something There' ('new and a bit al-arr-ming').
Of the remaining 'Disney Princess' voice actresses, her voice has aged the worst.
Her rendition of a Beauty & the Beast medley at the 2011 D23 Expo turned out to be awkward, with her voice having clearly aged and with her singing off-key.
As it was, she was a 35-five year old voicing a character in her late teens, during production of the film.
She took part in the annoying-as-hell Disney Princess anthem, 'If You Can Dream.'
She helped to ruin a good thing by making the awful sequels, 'Enchanted Christmas' and 'Belle's Magical World.'
'Belle' is one of the most widely parodied Disney songs, with YouTube parodies like Todrick Hall's 'Beauty & the Beat,' Paint's 'After Ever After,' and 'Bonjour Girl' going viral, scoring millions of hits each.
She has a cameo in the overrated fairy tale satire, 'Enchanted.'
Like Jodi Benson, no matter what she'll ever do, she will always be known exclusively as 'the voice of a Disney Princess.'
She and Jodi Benson were replaced as voice actresses in the Disney Princess franchise lineup without any notice, in 2012, angering legions of fans.
She performed in Broadway's 'Menopause: The Musical'

Why he might not be annoying:

She beat out close to 1,000 actresses for the part of Belle.
Howard Ashman had worked with her on Broadway's 'Show Boat' and personally recommended her for Belle, claiming that she had a voice 'European-sounding' enough for the part.
During her audition a wayward strand of her hair blew over her face and she tucked it back, leading the animators to incorporate it into the character's design as Belle's trademark 'strand of hair.'
Her voice acting was so convincing during the filming of the Beast's death scene that she had the production staff concerned and thinking she was really crying.
She received the Disney Legend Award in 2011.
She has been married to Broadway star, Michael Piontek, for over 20 years.
She received acclaim for her performance as Fantine in Les Miserables on Broadway.
Her trademark song, 'Belle,' was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar (losing out to the title song, 'Beauty & the Beast').
Her character arguably resonates strongest with young girls, who are taught that it's okay to be different and that it's cool to read.
Belle was one of 400 characters nominated for 'AFI's 100 Years ... 100 Heroes & Villains' list in 2003.
She has used her fame as the voice of Belle to raise funds for numerous children's charities.
She sang 'Beauty & the Beast' over the phone to an AIDS-stricken Howard Ashman in the hospital (it would be the last time she would speak to Howard before his death).
She has had a side-job painting for Disney Fine Arts since 2009.
