He smoked.
After not being able to cut it as a dancer and a comedian, he decided he would give guitar playing and music a chance.
He didn't perform much after 1945.
His main claim to fame is that Syd Barrett named half of Pink Floyd after him.
In the Pink Floyd song 'Have a Cigar,' which is about Syd Barrett, Roger Waters wrote 'The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think, oh by the way, which one's Pink?'

He and his family moved around a lot as a child.
He learned how to play the guitar from a blind blues musician, Simeon Dooley.
He retired from touring because of problems with his heart.
He taught his son, 'Little Pink' Anderson, how to play the guitar.
He, along with Floyd Council and various drugs, were the basis for which Pink Floyd were founded on.
