Why she might be annoying:

Instead of a collection of songs, her album 'A Day in the Life' (1997) was a sound collage (conversations, phone messages, street sounds, etc.) to represent her typical day in New York.
In 2006, she auctioned off her house and most of her possessions, started backpacking around Europe, and changed her name to 'Issa.' (Or as some wiseacres quickly dubbed her, 'the Artist formerly known as Jane Siberry.')
Her album 'With What Shall I Keep Warm' was credited to both Issa and Jane Siberry.
    She is a vegetarian.
She writes columns for Huffington Post.

Why she might not be annoying:

She considers Van Morrison and Miles Davis her strongest creative influences.
After a disastrous concert opening for Mike Oldfield in Edinburgh, she reassessed her career and decided to assert more control, later noting 'The worst show of my life has become the best show because it's given me the ultimate freedom to care only about what I think is really good. How my career does is secondary.'
She began selling her songs through her website with the buyer choosing how much to pay (2005).
On average, fans paid $1.25 per song, compared to the 99 cents they would sell for on iTunes.
She used her fan list to organize a 'microtour' of Europe, in which she played small venues -- ranging from cafes to the homes of fans -- wherever her fans could organize a place to play, an audience of 20 to 30 people, and accommodations for the night (2010).
She used crowdsourcing to fund the recording of an album (2014).
