Why they might be annoying:

They are a one hit wonder.
They have one of the more misunderstood rock song choruses recorded. 'Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry' has been misheard to the point of it sounding like the end is 'so scary,' 'spaghetti,' etc.
Pesce quit in 1986 and the band folded two years later.
Mann, trying for a solo career, was forced to use the band name for years after the break-up due to legal obligations.

Why they might not be annoying:

They won a 'battle of the bands' contest hosted by a Boston radio station in 1984.
Their 1985 breakthrough hit 'Voices Carry' reached #8 on Billboard's Singles chart and the album of the same title went to #19.
Their music video won them 'MTV's 'Best New Artist in a Video' and was voted #60 for 'Greatest Music Videos Ever Made.'
Mann's performance in the video as a woman struggling against the tight emotional grip of an oppressive boyfriend earned praise from many repressed teen girls and some women's groups.
