Actor

The Resume

    (December 29, 1942-July 18, 2012)
    Born in Amritsar, India
    Birth name was Jatin Arora
    Bollywood actor and producer
Was the male lead in 128 films
Member of the Indian National Congress representing New Delhi (1992-96)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was nicknamed 'Kaka.'
He named one of his daughters Twinkle. (Yes, I realize that neither Twinkle nor Kaka is likely to be as amusing in Hindi as they are in English.)
Female fans would 'marry' his picture by cutting their fingers and applying their blood to it.
Authorities banned him from filming a scene on a boat sailing beneath the Howrah Bridge out of fears that if the public found out he was there, the bridge might collapse from the weight of fans trying to get a glimpse of him.
He had a huge entourage of hangers-on.
He was described as 'moody, temperamental and unreliable.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He beat out 10,000 aspirants to win a talent contest sponsored by All-India United Producers and Filmfare magazine (1965).
He brought a fresh new romantic style to Bollywood films.
He inspired an unprecedented level of fan hysteria in India.
He was called the 'first superstar' and 'original superstar' of Indian cinema.
His death drew condolence notices from the prime ministers of both India and Pakistan.
