Why Machine Head might be annoying:

    They have assorted tattoos.
Despite being established in the United States, they didn't develop a strong following amongst American music fans until their later releases.
They drew controversy, after they released the video for their single 'Crashing Around You' which was released three weeks following the September 11th terrorist attacks.
To add further fuel to the fire, the song's music video showed buildings ablaze and was pulled as a result of the timing of the release.
They experienced high turnover amongst the band's members.

Why Machine Head might not be annoying:

They were considered amongst the pioneer bands of American heavy metal during the 1990's.
Its reputation recovered following the controversy over the timing of the release of 'Crashing Over You.'
They weren't afraid to experiment with different styles, in order to give themselves a unique sound.
They returned to Roadrunner Records three years after being dropped in wake of the 'Crashing Over You' fiasco, after being granted 100% creative control over their music.
