    Won 29 amateur titles, 44 professional titles
    One of the 13 founding members of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA, 1948)
    First LPGA President (1950-52)
    Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame (1951)
    Namesake for the Patty Berg Award given by the LPGA to an individual who 'exemplifies diplomacy, sportsmanship, goodwill and contributions to the game of golf'

Why she might be annoying:

    She was a tomboy growing up, quarterbacking for the neighborhood football team.
    She was often overshadowed on the LPGA tour by Babe Dirikson Zaharias, with Mickey Wright saying 'Patty got kicked under the rug because of Babe.'
    She said she would retire when she turned 50, but stayed on the LPGA tour more than a decade longer, retiring after hip replacement surgery in 1980.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was named Female Athlete of the Year three times by the Associated Press (1938,1942,1955).
    She joined the US Marines as a recruitment officer during WWII.
    Over her lifetime, she taught over 16,000 clinics during which she estimated that she introduced nearly half a million new players to the game of golf.
    She was the first woman to receive the PGA's Distinguished Service Award (1995).
