The Resume

    (circa 1964-July 2011)
    Born in United Kingdom
Former entertainment journalist for the 'Sun' and 'News of the World'
One of the first journalists to go on record with allegations of widespread phone hacking at 'News of the World'
Found dead in his home (July 18, 2011)

Why he might be annoying:

A former colleague said, 'If you could imagine the stereotypical image of a News of the World hack, it would be he.'
He was fired from the 'News of the World' for drinking and drug problems (2005).
He admitted that he would start the day with a 'rock star's breakfast' of cocaine and Jack Daniels.
He said he spent £1,000 a week on cocaine.
Some observers suggested his motive for coming forward was revenge against Andy Coulson, the editor who had fired him.

Why he might not be annoying:

A 'Sun' reporter said, 'He always looked out for the junior reporters on the paper.'
He claimed that doing drugs with rock stars had been encouraged by the 'News of the World.'
He said he came forward because he felt the paper was unfairly portraying Royal reporter Clive Goodman as a rogue journalist and setting him up as a fall guy for the hacking scandal.
