Why Solid Gold might be annoying:

It was the essence of a campy 1980s music show.
The show was best known for the scantily-clad, gold lame' wearing Solid Gold Dancers.
The Dancers released an exercise video in 1984.
Host Andy Gibb's drug habit caused him to show up late for tapings or not arrive at all. He was fired as a result.
Wayland Flowers was a frequent guest.

Why Solid Gold might not be annoying:

For a time, Solid Gold was the best place for new music acts to get noticed and old music has-beens to get employment.
Dancer Cooley Jackson taught Michael Jackson 'the moonwalk.'
Sum 41 parodied the show for a music video.
