Why he might be annoying:

    He dropped out of junior high school.
    He fathered a son out of wedlock with singer Ruth Brown (no relation).
    He was once banned by the New York Boxing Commission for making too much noise in the ring.
    During the second Ali-Frazier fight, he accidentally sent Ali out for one round without a mouthpiece.
    He sold one of Ali's championship belts for $500 to buy heroin with.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served two years in the US Navy (which he joined at age 13, being unusually large for his age) and twelve years in the Merchant Marine.
    He and Ali remained friends after he converted to Reform Judaism and Ali joined the Nation of Islam.
    He coined the famed saying, 'Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see.'
