The Resume

    Born in Paris, France
    Frederic Joliot (March 19, 1900-August 14, 1958)
    Irene Curie (September 12, 1897-March 17, 1956)
Joined their last names after marrying (1926)
Irene was daughter of Pierre and Marie Curie
Recipients of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering artificial radiation (1935)

Why they might be annoying:

They were hired by the Radium Institute founded by Irene's parents.
They discovered the positron and neutron without realizing it; two other physicists would win Nobels for those achievements.
After a French physicist working on the Anglo-American atomic bomb project told Frederic of their progress, he passed the information on to the Soviet Union.
Frederic was removed from the French atomic reactor program for being a Communist (1950).
Like Marie, Irene died from leukemia caused by exposure to radiation during her experiments.

Why they might not be annoying:

During World War I, Irene helped her mother run x-ray machines at mobile field hospitals.
During World War II, Frederic was a member of the French resistance movement.
They were both awarded the Legion of Honor.
They gave the Curie family its fourth and fifth Nobel Prizes, by far the record for any family.
