The Resume

    (January 28, 1937- )
    Born in Waco, Texas
    Folksinger
Recorded the albums 'Scarlet Ribbons' (1957), 'Carolyn Hester' (1960), 'Carolyn Hester' (1961), 'That's My Song' (1964), 'At Town Hall' (1965), 'Carolyn Hester' (1973), 'From These Hills' (1999), 'A Tribute to Tom Paxton' (2000) and 'We Dream Forever' (2009)

Why she might be annoying:

She released three different self-titled albums.
She married folksinger Richard Farina 18 days after meeting him. The marriage broke up in two years.
She evicted Farina from her hotel room at gunpoint. (In her defense, the safety was on.)
She turned down a chance to form a trio with Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey, who eventually got Mary Travers to round out the group.
After an unsuccessful foray into psychedelic music with the Carolyn Hester Coalition, she dropped out of music for over a decade.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She had a three-octave range.
One critic noted, 'At the beginning, she was the queen of folk music -- long before [Joan] Baez and [Judy] Collins came along.'
Bob Dylan got his big break playing harmonica on one of her albums, which led to him meeting Columbia A&R man John Hammond and getting signed to the label.
Dylan said, 'Carolyn was eye-catching, down home and double-barrel beautiful.'
