    Hosted the TV shows 'Life Is Worth Living' (Dumont and ABC, 1951-57) and 'The Fulton Sheen Program' (syndicated, 1961-68)
    Won an Emmy for Outstanding Television Personality (1953)
    Inspired Ramon Estevez to adopt the stage name Martin Sheen

Why he might be annoying:

    He was dismissed from his high school debate team for being a poor speaker.
    While teaching at Catholic University in Washington, DC, he invented a second doctorate for himself.
    He feuded with Francis Cardinal Spellman about disbursing funds from the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
    By demonstrating how well TV and religion could combine, he paved the way for hordes of televangelists.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first American to win the Cardinal Mercier Prize for International Philosophy.
    Most of his life, he worked nineteen hours a day, seven days a week.
    As Bishop of Rochester, he took on the city's largest employer, Kodak, over its discriminatory employment policies.
    In his Emmy acceptance speech, he said, 'I would like to thank my writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.'
