Hockey Player

The Resume

    (March 27, 1985- )
    Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Drafted 245th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft
Defenseman/forward for the Chicago Blackhawks (2005-10), Atlanta Thrashers (2010-11) and the Winnipeg Jets

Why he might be annoying:

His surname is hard to spell and pronounce.
He frequently sticks his tongue out after scoring goals.
He is one of the NHL's heaviest players, as he is physically built like a football player.
Despite being one of the key cogs on the Hawks, he was traded to Atlanta days after the team's Stanley Cup victory in a salary dump move.
He nearly quit hockey after he was deemed academically ineligible to play for his hometown Roseau Rams.
He was arrested for boating while intoxicated (August 2011).
He was sentenced to two days community service after pleading guilty to the charges.

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up poor, to a single mother in her hometown of Roseau.
He was born to a Caucasian mother and an African-American father who met in college.
His stepfather Dale Smedsmo played a brief stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a full-time stint in the World Hockey Association during the 1970's.
He succesfully made the transition from a defenseman to a forward under former head coach Denis Savard.
He played alongside Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews to create a dominating first line during the Hawks Stanley Cup championship run (2010).
He was traded to Atlanta with the hope of being the franchise player who can sell the game in a predominantly African-American city.
He embraced the opportunity to play in Winnipeg, and went as far as being the ambassador to the city among the Thrashers players.
