Why she might be annoying:

Her stage name was Lorax.
She joined The Melvins after bassist Matt Lukin left to form Mudhoney (she was dating frontman Buzz Osborne at the time).
She is credited with playing on the band's major label debut Houdini in 1993, though Osborne has said Black did not play on it.
She formed a drug addiction during her time with the group and was busted for heroin possession at a Portland airport (February 1993).

Why she might not be annoying:

She had a contentious relationship with her mother growing up - but when she was made to attend drug rehab on court order, Shirley dropped everything to support her.
She decided to enter a facility near her parents where mother Shirley routinely checked up on her, participated in therapy alongside her, and helped her to eventually get sober.
There was a rumor floating around the Internet that she had died of a heroin overdose in 1998, but it was disproven and she resides in San Francisco, where she works as a photographer.
Melvins bandmate Dale Crover described her as ‘a really solid bass player.’
When asked why she was let go from the Melvins, Buzz reportedly said: ‘I basically got sick of her. Dumped her. Just rid her from my life completely, and there's no way I could see playing in a band with her. That had a lot to do with it, plus, I thought she was lazy’ (harsh!).
