    Birth name was Robert Lowell Moore, Jr.
    Wrote 'The Green Berets' (1965), 'The French Connection' (1969), 'The Hunt for Bin Laden' (2003) and 'Hunting Down Saddam' (2004)

Why he might be annoying:

    He wrote naked, saying 'I find that clothing is a barrier to creativity.'
    He won a Razzie for worst screenplay for the flop 'Inchon' (1982).
    A friend explaining his participation in that film said, 'What you have to understand about Robin, above all, is that he will do absolutely anything for money.'
    He pled guilty to selling fraudulent literary tax shelters (1986).
    He had to disavow 'The Hunt for Bin Laden' after discovering that his main source had fabricated his information.

Why he might not be annoying:

    'The Green Berets' and 'The French Connection' were adapted into hit movies.
    He trained with the Green Berets for a year in preparation for his book.
    He co-wrote the hit song 'Ballad of the Green Berets.'
    Major General Gary Harrell of the Army Special Operations Command called him a 'devoted advocate' for the Green Berets.
